Springfield subscribers to Mediacom cable will soon have access to more sports, including more of the Missouri Tigers.

From the news release:

Mediacom is adding Watch ESPN and FOX SPORTS Go to its TV Everywhere platform, giving digitally-connected consumers more options to watch live sports on nearly any screen inside or outside the home, the company announced Friday.

ESPN and FOX Sports are two of the biggest producers of live sports coverage. Mobile access to multiple cable TV channels offered by both networks is included as an automatic part of a Mediacom Family Cable subscription. Free apps are available in iOS and Android formats to give viewers access to programming on iPad or Android tablets, gaming consoles, computers or web-enabled smart phones.

“Consumers today own a variety of video-enabled devices and expect each one to act like the TV they have at home. They may be waiting at an airport or sitting in the bleachers at their child’s soccer practice, but they won’t have to miss any of the big college or NFL action,” said Ed Pardini, Mediacom senior vice president.

Pardini explained that TV Everywhere apps give cable subscribers mobile access to a growing number of channels that replicate the customer’s in-home lineup. With the newest additions, Mediacom increased by 100-percent the number of network choices available as mobile programming.

Watch ESPNconnects users to sports programming televised on ESPN, ESPN2, ESPN3, ESPNU and SEC Network. FOX Sports Go makes mobile content available from its primary sports networks, FS1 and FS2, as well as its regional sports networks. Earlier in the month, Mediacom added NFL Network and NFL RedZone to its TV Everywhere platform.

Consumers can go to online app stores for Apple or Google Play to download TV Everywhere apps for their favorite cable channels. Mediacom is now listed as a provider for FOX Sports Go, and Watch ESPN will be available beginning Sept. 2.

Other new viewing options available to Mediacom customers include ESPN Goal Line and ESPN Buzzer Beater. That sports programming uses a Mediacom digital cable channel to deliver game-time coverage of critical moments and game-winning action during ESPN broadcasts of college football and basketball competition. Mediacom is in the process of adding ESPN Goal Line / Buzzer Beater as part of the Sports and Information digital package where viewers will find the channel beginning next month.

SEC NETWORK

In addition, Mediacom continues to add channel space to include alternate feed or ‘overflow’ game coverage for both Big Ten and SEC networks as a way to provide traditional television viewers a wider choice of live college sports competition produced by those conference-specific networks. Live game coverage will appear on the alternative channels during times when BTN or SEC Network is scheduled to televise two games at the same times, typically the late-morning and mid-afternoon Saturday games during college football season.

In areas where BTN is included in a Mediacom Family Cable subscription, channels 160 and 161 have been activated to carry alternative game coverage. Equipment installation is underway to bring the channels to Mediacom viewers in the BTN footprint, with the channels currently available in some areas and scheduled to arrive in all designated areas within a few weeks.

In areas where SEC Network is included in a Mediacom Family Cable subscription, channel 189 is designated as SEC2 – where live coverage of the network’s alternative game will be available to see. For example, a sports fan in Missouri can typically watch the in-market game with the Missouri Tigers on channel 51, or choose Mediacom 189 to see an Alabama or Georgia game on the alternate telecast.
