A winter storm has arrived in Pennsylvania, dumping snow, ice and rain over much of the state, and, moving into next week, forecasters are calling for more inclement winter weather, albeit of a different variety.
It’s going to be extremely cold, according to predictions.
According to afternoon forecasts from the National Weather Service, the storm that arrived Saturday was predicted to drop between 1 to 4 inches of snow in most of central Pennsylvania, including Harrisburg.
That is in addition to sleet, rain and freezing rain, which is expected to fall into Sunday.
Central Pa. isn’t getting nearly as much snow as predicted. What happened?
Following the precipitation, National Weather Service forecasters predict temperatures will drop into the single digits on Sunday and Monday, with windchills bringing those numbers to below zero.

- Tonight – Rain and sleet are expected to become all rain after 1 a.m., with low temperatures near 32 degrees.
- Sunday – A chance of rain and sleet is expected before 10 a.m., and a slight chance of snow showers is expected between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. Temperatures could reach as low as 5 degrees by nightfall, with a windchill of -10 degrees.
- Monday – Sunny skies are expected with temperatures as low as 4 degrees and a windchill of -10 degrees.
