Mayor issues snow emergency alert | Local News | ncnewsonline.com – New Castle News
The National Weather Service, Pittsburgh, has issued a winter storm watch for western Pennsylvania including Lawrence County.
This storm watch is in effect from this morning through Sunday afternoon.
A winter storm watch means there is potential for significant snow, sleet or ice accumulations that may impact travel.
Expect heavy snow accumulating eight to 14 inches.
New Castle has assigned additional resources to help to maintain roads as a safety precaution. Main roads, including hills and bridges, will be the city’s priority.
Secondary and side roads will be plowed once main roads are deemed safe for travel.
The city also asks that if possible, park vehicles off the road in order to allow snow plows the opportunity to plow the entire roadway.
The city also asks that motorists limit driving to only necessary and emergency travel during this weather emergency.
