Independent report into culture at British Cycling to be published on Wednesday – Telegraph.co.uk
British Cycling was, by that stage, already making sweeping changes to its board, having appointed a new chairman in Jonathan Browning, a new chief executive in Julie Harrington from the Football Association, hired a new human resources boss and revamped its code of conduct.
It had also appointed a new performance director in Stephen Park, brought in from British Sailing.
The draft report, though, also led to a certain amount of support for British Cycling from athletes and staff who said they did not recognise the picture painted in the leaked version. Many of them revealed that they had not actually spoken to the panel, leading to questions about how balanced it was.
It remains to be seen to what extent the final version of the report – which was further delayed by the period of purdah prior to last week’s general election – may be watered down.
