GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. – Friends and family are remembering a 16-year-old boy who died during soccer practice Saturday.
Investigators say Michael Jones, a junior at Parkview High School, acted strangely and then collapsed.
Channel 2’s Matt Johnson spoke with Jones’ soccer coach Sunday who said the whole Parkview community is devastated as they mourn Jones.
Forsyth County firefighters told Johnson that the teenager collapsed at Windemere Park during a club soccer practice and later died at the hospital.
Jones made the varsity soccer team at Parkview as a sophomore.
A memorial has been written on the chalk board inside of the team locker room at Parkview.
Officials said Jones was at a morning practice for his club soccer team outside of school activities.

It was around 11 a.m. when firefighters responded to Windemere Park in Forsyth County.
Coach Daniel Klinect told Johnson that he performed CPR on Jones after he had collapsed on the field.
Coaches do not believe the incident was heat related and have said Jones died of cardiac arrest.
Klinect said he knew Jones for four years and that he was a leader on the team.
“He wasn’t the biggest guy on the team, so he made up for that with heart and effort and he had earned himself, a starting spot by the end of the year,” Klinect told Johnson.
His coach says Jones was in fantastic shape and is struggling to understand how he could die of cardiac arrest.
