Houston, we have a title. It only took 55 years but the Astros are champions. Some items of interest: Yuli Gurriel tipped his hat to Yu Darvish during his first at-bat … Here’s a look at the game’s final out … Carlos Beltran cried after winning his first title in 20 MLB seasons … Carlos Correa proposed to his girlfriend (Miss Texas USA Daniella Rodriguez) right after the game … Justin Verlander and Kate Upton enjoyed a postgame kiss … I am so impressed with this gambler for walking away with $14 million … Joe Buck and John Smoltz did a great job in broadcast booth … Celebrites and other MLB players went on Twitter to congratulate Houston … The Dodgers are favorites to win in 2018 but we are predicting a Houston repeat.

In 2014, SI’s Ben Reiter predicted the last-place Astros would win the 2017 World Series. Here is that story, which was a big Twitter subject during last night’s game We get a lot of things wrong and people let us know about it, so allow us (and Bon Appetit) to have this moment. Especially since this is the second time we’ve predicted a World Series winner in last six years.
